I care part-time for a three year old boy as well as my own baby daughter. We enjoy music classes together, getting out around the Twin Cities to explore and be active, and learning new foods and cooking together.

I have worked with this family off and on throughout the past five years, caring for their two children. The main target of my job was interacting with their son who is on the autism spectrum to take him to various therapies that focus on improving his peer interaction, conversation skills, and behavior. I love the occasional difficulties that we face together, and it has provided me with endless opportunities to overcome challenges, barriers, and problem-solve.

-Respond in appropriate time to walk-in, routine, or urgent orders for electrocardiogram testing on patients throughout entire hospital. -Briefly interpret EKG to notify doctor or nurse of abnormalities if necessary.-Required quick thinking and problem solving in certain situations such as burn victims, open heart newborn patients, unwilling patients, and code blue situations where multiple care providers are surrounding patient at one time.

-Assess vitals and heart rhythm before ambulation.-Walk with inpatient cardiac patients diagnosed with myocardial infarction, ICD or pacemaker insertions, bypass surgery, and/or heart transplant.-Assess peak and post exercise vitals.-Review heart rhythm during ambulation, alerting nurse of abnormal rhythms, and chart session in Epic.

-Demonstrate and lead exercise classes while motivating participants during intense workouts and constantly monitoring body form to ensure safety for each participant. -Conduct pre- and post program fitness and body composition assessments. -Attract prospective members and sell life-changing, personalized program memberships. -Build and keep excellent coach-client relationships.

Greet and check in patients upon arrival, keep office and exercise rooms tidy, assist as needed with patient exercises, schedule patients, approve health insurance, keep and track patient records.

-Prepped patients for exercise by hooking up five-lead EKG holster, collected glucose levels for diabetics, manually assessed blood pressures at rest, peak exercise, and post-exercise.-Monitored and interpreted continuously running EKG before, during, and after exercise, watching carefully for abnormal or threatening ectopy.-Performed orientation to phase II rehabilitation including verbal explanation of program and monitoring exercise stress tests using Bruce Protocol.-Developed and taught daily education classes over viewing cardiovascular system and functions, exercise for improving prognosis, and smoking cessation; write exercise prescriptions for next session.

I developed each weekly class, demonstrated and led group exercise classes. Class experience includes hi/lo cardio, strength training, kickboxing, yoga, boot camp, and fitness trampoline.

I demonstrated exercises and led classes in areas of cardio, plyometrics, kickboxing, kettlebells, tabata, and stretching.
