Dear Damsels is a publishing platform sharing the words and stories of women, online and in print. By hosting bi-monthly open submission periods, we’re providing a space for women to use their voice and receive a resounding response back.Recently, we successfully crowdfunded and published Let Me Know When You’re Home: Stories of Female Friendship. The project was selected by Kickstarter as a ‘Project We Love’ and achieved 118% of the original funding goal.It was the first book to be published by Dear Damsels but our fifth print publication, following four issues of the DD Annual, which I curate and edit alongside Bridie Wilkinson.Dear Damsels has also hosted several sold-out events and collaborated with Waterstones TCR, LABS and Bath Spa Illustration Society.

I work creatively and compassionately with aspiring and published writers alike, offering developmental editing, copy-editing and proofreading services.My style of editing is kind, honest and open and I am extremely conscientious in my approach. I know how much work authors put into their manuscripts, and I always make sure my editorial recommendations reflect that level of detail and care.

Sphere is one of the most successful publishing imprints in the UK and is home to international bestselling authors including Val McDermid, Clare Mackintosh, and J.K. Rowling. As editor at Sphere Fiction, I managed the publication of unputdownable thrillers, heart-warming book club stories and everything in between, working with some of the UK’s biggest authors and playing a pivotal role in the industry-leading publishing strategies for multiple Top 10 bestsellers. From developing creative, commercial publishing visions, working closely with authors and agents on manuscripts, to writing copy for titles, shoutlines and sales material, I was involved at every stage of the publishing process, collaborating with the design, marketing, publicity and sales teams to get unforgettable books into the hands of as many readers as possible.I'm delighted to continue to work with Sphere as a freelance editor.

In my first editorial role, I provided support and assistance to the Managing Director and Fiction Publisher, contributing to the smooth running of the company and fiction team. This involved balancing creative editorial tasks, such as cover briefing and copy-writing, with time-pressured PA duties, including diary management, creating agendas and taking editorial meeting minutes. In 2016 I began working across Hodder Fiction and the literary imprint Sceptre, on both fiction and non-fiction projects. In this role I acquired the bestselling domestic thriller The Family Next Door by Sally Hepworth, which went on to dramatically outperform sales estimates.

I first joined the major UK publisher Hodder & Stoughton to coordinate the cover design schedule within the extremely busy and prolific art department. Hodder’s design team produce the iconic covers for authors including Stephen King, Jodi Picoult and John Grisham. In this hands-on role I liaised with designers and production controllers on tight print deadlines to ensure book covers were briefed and designed on time. I also arranged the weekly cover meetings, collating cover visuals from designers and collecting cover briefs from editors.
