Acquire and commission books while coordinating the movement of projects through the publication process—from contract negotiation through transmittal, publication planning, and marketing and sales. Subject areas include Appalachian Studies (Appalachian Futures: Black, Native, and Queer Voices series), creative nonfiction & memoir, food, drink, and music. Work closely with colleagues, authors, and series editors to discuss and shape projects, including preparing all appropriate UPK authors for media, publicity, and marketing opportunities before and during publication in coordination with the marketing team.

• Book and book series conceptualization and development, including the series Appalachian Futures: Black, Native, and Queer Voices.• Project management and content development.• Collaboration with writers, designers, artists, and production editors.• Marketing and publicity consultation.

Assists with implementing multimedia strategies and campaigns for one of the world's leading innovation districts, including developing content for marketing, publicity, and storytelling initiatives; writing, developmental editing, and copyediting; digital asset management; and collaborating with and promoting partners.

Manages the solicitation, review, and acceptance process for book reviews submitted to this literary journal.

Responsible for fiction and regional trade titles under consideration for publication, as well as:• Exploring ideas for new publishing programs and the development of existing programs.• Soliciting, receiving, and reviewing fiction and creative non-fiction book manuscripts.• Overseeing the review process for projects, including preparing and presenting new projects to the WVU Press Board for approval.• Working with the author to undertake revision in accordance with peer reviews, revision plan, and dictates of the WVU Press Board.• Working with the author and WVU Press staff to transmit the manuscript into production, coordinate in-house discussions on format, pricing, and marketing• Communicating production and design ideas and other information to authors.• Overseeing marketing and publicity for these titles and all WVU Press books and journals.

Assesses for, plans, manages, implements, and evaluates all marketing, sales, and publicity campaigns and functions for West Virginia University Press, publisher of trade, regional, and scholarly books, journals, and music. Duties include: sales analysis and strategy; sales team preparation; marketing campaign design and management; integrated marketing communications management; publicity and public relations; marketing research and analysis; website management; inventory and distribution management; copywriting; trade show, conference, and event planning; and strategic research and planning for new product development.

Developed and implemented the marketing and publicity campaigns for several academic lists.
