As a Principal with Lateral Link, I help associate, counsel and partner candidates in all fields of law understand the current market for their skills, explore new opportunities, facilitate the interview process and find the best match. I work with a broad base of clients nationwide and internationally, including law firms, companies, and not-for-profits, assisting through every step of the hiring process. I focus on the New York, Boston, D.C. and European markets, but in cooperation with my colleagues, we work nationwide and internationally. I regularly participate in professional and career panels, and have published numerous articles (http://abovethelaw.com/tag/abby-gordon/) offering career advice and tracking trends in the legal market. I am a Boston native. I earned my B.A. in Government and Romance Languages, magna cum laude, from Dartmouth College. I worked with the International Rescue Committee as a Fulbright Scholar in Madrid, then earned a J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown. After law school, I spent seven years as a Capital Markets Associate with Cleary Gottlieb: with their LatAm group in New York, then in their Paris office. I am fluent in French and Spanish and dabble in Portuguese and Italian (I gave up on German, Arabic and Japanese!) In additional to my work as a legal recruiter, I manage my three vacation rental properties: – In Paris's Marais district: www.parisweekender.com/paris-apartment-rental (video tour: https://vimeo.com/202047117)– On the water, in Boothbay Harbor, Maine: www.boothbayharborrental.com– Near Sunday River, in Bethel, Maine: www.boothbayharborrental.com/bethelI maintain a blog on Paris and European travel at www.parisweekender.com and I contribute to a number of other travel and expat life publications. I earned diplomas from the Keltia Photography School in Madrid and The Photography Institute in London. You can view my online photo gallery at www.AbbyGordon.Smugmug.com. A caveat when you work with me as a recruiter: you are implicitly signing up for unsolicited travel advice as well. All that doesn't leave me with much free time! But I do manage to squeeze in as much hiking, XC skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding as I can. With my rescue pup of course! In 2014, I started hiking the entire coastline of Brittany (France), about 1,565 miles. Little by little....[Update: 1,562 miles√ Just ONE small island still to go!]
