After years of loving school, my inquisitive nature and love of learning has taken over and lead me to the decision to devote my life to scientific research - specifically neuroscience & neurobiology research. With almost 4 years of undergraduate education in neuroscience & interdisciplinary science coursework under my belt, I aim to gain experience in the next several years to either pursue a PhD in Neuroscience.Over the summer of 2024, I worked as a full-time research fellow through NIH funded Delaware INBRE to work under Dr. Dayan Knox in his neurobiology lab where I performed various basic statistical analyses on immunohistochemistry images of Sprague-Dawley rat brains to determine activity levels in limbic areas after traumatic stress. Additionally, I worked on a project investigating the impact of Single Prolonged Stress (a model of PTSD) on mu-opioid receptor internalization in female Sprague-Dawley rats.Research that I am interested in is the Neurobiological mechanisms involved in PTSD, The Gut-Brain Axis and Anxiety, neurobiological mechanisms involved in Migraines, dysautonomia and disorders of the autonomic nervous system, and Addiction.
