I am interested in the study of dynamical, biological systems. With an undergraduate background in physics and motivation from the fields of biology and medicine, I am focused on understanding the interaction of living cells with their physiological environments. Specifically, during my graduate studies, I studied various immune cell models to understand how they integrated external signals into intracellular waves and oscillations of the cells' motility machinery (cytoskeletal proteins). With my background, I am equipped to both utilize in vitro biological systems and observe them qualitatively and quantitatively analyze the complex dynamics. I have also learned the importance of cross-disciplinary teams to both ask and answer complicated questions from the fields of physics, chemistry and biology. By integrating the different sectors of science, a more holistic view of living things can be observed, analyzed, and modeled.
