Support the research operations department with projects designed to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our research process

Analyzes large sets of social and behavioral information from social media presence, educational background, questionnaires, and census data to identify optimal jury candidates during the voir dire process for plaintiff’s attorneys in civil litigation.Quantifies juror bias and communicates with trial managers to assist with jury selection on medical malpractice, tobacco and personal injury lawsuits.

-Manage teams of 4-15 researchers during Voir Dire research, while coordinating with courtroom liaisons and other members of the trial management team. -Review and edit research on the entire Venire panel, assessing which areas need to be focused on and communicating concerns to relevant parties.-Input and format information on the Venire panel and from court-administered questionnaires.-Test and report bugs related to the implementation of new software used during the research process.-Evaluate and report on the performance of the different components of the research process.

Working under the auspices of the William C. Friday Award for Research in the Arts and Humanities, beneath Dr. Rebecka Rutledge Fisher, I conducted literature reviews, collection/analysis of literary data, acquisition of primary sources utilizing UNC’s TRLN and ILL servers, World Cat and MLA International Bibliography databases, wrote summaries, created keyword indexes and annotated bibliographies pertaining to late 17th, 18th and 19th century literature, specifically focusing on the connection between racial politics, the poetics of W.E.B. Du Bois, and their connection to the Francophone Avant Garde and American Romanticism movements.

Conducted literature reviews, collection/analysis of literary data, acquisition of primary sources utilizing UNC’s TRLN and ILL servers, wrote summaries, and created keyword indexes and annotated bibliographies pertaining to biographical research on former U.S. Poet Laureate Natasha Trethewey. Additionally, I compiled an annotated bibliography of major book-length publications of poetry by African American authors between 2000-2023.

Planned and executed the celebration of the NC Alpha Chapter's Centennial Anniversary with over 200 guests in attendance; successfully maintained the integrity and secrecy of Fraternity ritual throughout ceremonies; executed set up and clean up of weekly chapter meetings; directed and led groups of 10-40 members to assist in the execution of ceremonies.

Although my time as a Global Gap Year Fellow was impacted by travel restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, I was able to volunteer as a Development Intern at the Wake County Women’s Center for six months, before spending several months in the mountains of North Carolina. As travel restrictions eased in May of 2021, I completed a 10,000-mile cross-country road trip across the nation’s national parks and scenic attractions.

Worked to reconcile the legacy of racial terror in Wake County, N.C. through leading a series of community outreach campaigns focused on commemorating lynching victims.
