I’ve come to learn of myself – you can take the girl out of the start-up, but you can’t take the start-up out of the girl. A colleague recently compared me, fondly, to a herding dog. Not my first choice, but, I get it. This appears to be what you get when you cross an educational foundation of Industrial Design and Psychology, professional experience in marketing, sales, process engineering, and product development with a natural born love of problem solving and strategic thinking and a deeply personal mission to restore societal and environmental ills. Prior to joining CertainTeed/Saint Gobain, which my father refers to as my first “real job”, I spent eleven years as an entrepreneur, working in the home performance and renewable energy sectors. I began my career by co-founding a boutique solar power start-up, developing the first curved solar roofing tile designed to integrate with dimensional roofing. The product was recognized in National Geographic and received Best of What’s New honors in Popular Science in 2009. In 2010, I was the fifth employee recruited to launch Mark Group – North America, a subsidiary of the leading EU-based, global provider of energy saving solutions for the residential, commercial and utilities sectors. I shaped and disseminated the Mark Group US brand through print, online and direct marketing channels. I ramped lead generation from 0 to 100+ daily scheduled appointments in less than 2 years, contributing to $1.9M in monthly sales. After starting a family of my own in 2014, with a desire for a life less fueled by the constant start-up intensity, I have had the pleasure to bring the drive and multi-faceted skill set that has contributed to the development and growth of new businesses, to an established organization such as CertainTeed/Saint Gobain.
