Research Project: TBI and neurodegenerative tauopathies, utilized a mouse controlled cortical impact model to examine the astrocytic response to traumatic brain injury (TBI) and tauopathies.Research Project: Role of tau in cerebral amyloid pathology, studied the effects of tau ablation on plaque formation and behavioral deficits on a mouse model for Familial Danish Dementia.-Oversaw the project organization and execution of projects funded by the DOD and NSF in order to meet project deadlines established by grant providers. -Supervised daily lab operations for EHS and IACUC compliance during annual inspections.-Managed and maintained laboratory transgenic mouse colonies essential for project development and grant submission. -Trained new and existing staff on laboratory safety and standardized experimental protocols.-Trained new laboratory staff on proper mouse handling and euthansia in accordance with IACUC approved techniques to minimize mouse pain and distress.-Lead the interviewing and hiring of laboratory staff.-Scheduled regular laboratory equipment maintenance to ensure accurate performance.-Developed mouse protocols in writing to be approved by IUPUI LARC and IACUC. -Reviewed grant submissions and manuscripts for grammar prior to submission.

Researched sea lamprey’s (Petromyzon marinus) possible resistance to the lampricide 3-trifluoromethyl-4-nitrophenol (TFM) through rapid adaptation in Lake Michigan. -Assisted in TFM exposure experiments to examine toxicity and transcriptome-wide gene expression.-Measured respiration rates in sea lamprey post TFM exposure to compare sublethal effects of TFM.-Executed proper feeding, handling, and dissection of sea lamprey according to SOP’s.
