Schools Project OfficerGlobal Action Plan Jan 2010 - Jun 2013I managed the London-wide ‘Action on Waste’ project; working with ‘Action at Schools’ teams with pupils and teachers, guiding them and giving them the skills to implement a project to reduce the waste being produced at schools. I was the Recruitment Manager for the Summer Step programme which was a government funded project to encourage 16 years olds to take part in social action projects in their local communities such as community clean ups and waste reduction events. Key experiences and achievements • Managed and developed a team of 4 graduates to recruit and support 16 year olds on the Summer Step Programme. • Key author of the digital marketing strategy that turned a 100 follower twitter account into one of The Guardian's top 10 environmental accounts to follow within 3 months. • Trained 50+ volunteers at BSkyB, PWC and Skanska for volunteer work in schools across England. Training focused on the key deliverables of the Action at Schools programme such as how to undertake waste audits, identifying areas for improvement in waste management and action planning, working with young people and child protection.• Worked with pupils, teachers, school management and colleagues to help implement behaviour change projects in over 40 schools across London. Designed and delivered workshops on environmental issues, how to action plan and implementing behaviour change. Following these sessions there was an average of 10* tonne reduction in landfill waste per school per year and average 10% reduction in electricity usage per school.• Personally designed a protecting wildlife modulated course for the British Council in China to bring creative thinking, team working and interactive learning practices to Chinese Schools.• Collated data and created monthly progress reports, quarterly reporting to management on results and feedback and bi-annual reporting to funders. -
Wildlife Watch OfficerUlster Wildlife Trust Aug 2007 - Dec 2009I managed a £300,000 project aimed at: increasing the biodiversity in school grounds; bringing education for sustainable development to all parts of the school curriculum; and developing the junior membership brand of the Ulster Wildlife.Key experiences and achievements • Relationship manager for 30 schools involved with Wildlife Watch. Proactively approached schools to recruit them onto our programme, supported management staff to implement improvements and coordinated environmental education guides to deliver workshops.• Undertook Training Needs Analysis, designed session plans and delivered the “Make Space For Nature” course to support and train 30+ environmental education guides to deliver programmes in schools and the community across N. Ireland. Feedback showed significant increase in actions to protect and improve areas for wildlife.• Developed, marketed and delivered public events such as Halloween nature walks and Easter family fun days and worked with Ikea and shopping centres to promote wildlife gardening -
