With more than a decade of nonprofit development experience, Abby Whitmire has an extensive record of exceeding fundraising objectives for health and human services, education, and faith-based organizations. As Associate Director of Development for the Hobby School of Public Affairs and College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) at the University of Houston, she manages a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects at the $25,000-$100,000 level. Previously, she served as Development Officer for The Posse Foundation, one of the most comprehensive and renowned college access and youth leadership development programs in the United States, where she spearheaded the annual fundraising plan and managed individual, corporate, and foundation giving for the New Orleans office. As Community Outreach Manager for Wesley Community Center, she expanded the volunteer program to mobilize donors and volunteers effectively to support their human services programs in Houston’s Near Northside. A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, Abby continues her commitment to philanthropy and volunteerism throughout the Gulf South by volunteering through the Junior League of Houston at organizations like the Holocaust Museum Houston and Ben Taub Hospital, and serving as Finance Chair of Leadership Houston Class XLII, Emerging Philanthropists of New Orleans (2013 Class), and the Association of Fundraising Professionals - Greater Houston Chapter.
