My name is Abdelrahman Elsayid (Abdelrahman M Makram), and I am an anesthesia, intensive care medicine, and pain management resident at the October 6 University Hospital, Egypt, and a Master of Public Health (MPH) candidate at Imperial College London, UK. My interest in research started in August 2016 in a multinational, online research lab called Online Research Club (ORC), which is managed by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Huy, M.D., Ph.D., an associate professor in the School of Tropical Medicine and Global Health (TMGH), Nagasaki University, Nagasaki, Japan. My current role in ORC as an independent researcher and research instructor is to guide young researchers as well as M.Sc. and Ph.D. candidates on how to conduct primary and secondary research with the ultimate aim of publishing in reputable journals.To foster my knowledge in clinical research, starting from February 2020 till January 2023, I worked as a Research Fellow in the Orthopaedic Department of October 6 University under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud A Hafez. Although my work was principally focused on the field of orthopedics, we generated pieces discussing various aspects of health technologies and policies.From my experience, I realized that medical care does not stop at providing each patient with their basic medical needs. It is our duty as physicians to search for new modalities for the diagnosis and treatment of our patients. This is the cause behind my persistent striving toward learning more about how to be a professional researcher and immerse myself in the field of public health.
