During my tenure as the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) from July 2022 to June 2023, I played a pivotal role in ensuring the effective monitoring and evaluation of various food and agriculture projects and programs. One notable project I worked on was focused on improving livestock productivity and sustainability in rural communities. In this project, I designed an M&E framework that included indicators such as the number of farmers adopting improved livestock management practices, changes in milk or meat production, and the impact on farmers' income levels. By implementing data collection tools such as farmer surveys and conducting on-site visits, I collected valuable information to assess the project's progress and impact. Through data analysis and interpretation, I provided insights and recommendations to project managers, enabling them to make informed decisions and optimize project outcomes.Another significant project I was involved in aimed to enhance food safety standards in the fisheries sector. As the M&E Officer, I developed an M&E framework that included indicators such as the compliance rate with food safety regulations, improvements in handling and processing practices, and the reduction of foodborne illnesses. By collaborating with local authorities and conducting regular inspections and audits, I collected data to assess the project's effectiveness in achieving its objectives. Through data analysis, I identified areas of success, such as increased adherence to food safety standards, and areas that required improvement, such as targeted training for fishermen and processors. Based on my findings, I provided recommendations to project stakeholders, contributing to the overall enhancement of food safety practices in the fisheries sector.
