Our political campaigns are focused on general elections and candidates for head of state or head of government, often a president or prime minister of the Federal Government of Somalia. Between July 1997 and July 2003, I developing a short lived but historical monetary policy for Somalia by briefly reestablishing the disintegrating currency by printing Somali Shillings. My overall intention in conducting this pilot program was to explore ways to broaden access to open market operations, and to determine operational capacity and resiliency in our national monetary policy.
