I assist and coordinate for the "Strengthening Media for Change" project efforts in Malaysia, in collaboration with the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and the European Commission. My role centers on empowering civil society organizations and media unions to foster a robust, independent, and diverse media landscape in Malaysia.Key Responsibilities:Oversee the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the project. Develop and manage timelines, deliverables, and budgets to ensure successful outcomes. Collaborate with NUJM and partner organizations to align activities with strategic goals.Capacity Building: Strengthen the capabilities of Malaysian media unions to expand their membership and advocate effectively for media reform. Design and lead training programs, workshops, and initiatives to enhance the skills of media practitioners and union leaders. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including media organizations, civil society groups, government agencies, and international partners. Represent the project at meetings, conferences, and public forums, advocating for media reform and project objectives.Advocacy and Strategic Communications: Develop and implement strategies to promote a diverse and independent media environment. Manage the creation of communication materials such as reports, press releases, and social media content to highlight the project's impact. Work with NUJM to enhance media unions' visibility in national media reform discussions.

As a Communications Strategist for NUJM, I am responsible for engaging with our members, branches, and leadership through both direct interactions on social media and broader union communications. My role involves identifying and addressing the issues that matter most to our members, and developing digital content and strategies to support our industrial and political campaigns.I advocate for critical issues affecting journalists, including media independence, reform, fair pay, and decent working conditions. I develop and manage electronic direct mail (EDM) and SMS campaigns to boost member engagement and attend Executive Committee meetings to implement key decisions in our communications.Additionally, I draft media statements and union bulletins, oversee our social media presence, and create strategies to grow our communities and networks. My responsibilities also include assisting with the production of reports and research for IFJ and NUJM, managing our website, and collaborating with other Malay media CSOs on joint statements.I actively monitor press freedom and labor rights violations, and develop campaign materials addressing key issues like decent work and gender equality, ensuring our advocacy efforts are impactful and aligned with our goals.

Anchoring and report live on a variety of topics such as general news, sports and business on RTM TV1 and 1News.Served as a station representative.
