Rehabilitation Upgrading and uprating of three GENCOs (public sector power generation companies)

Worked as consultant with M/S Hagler Bailly Pakistan on a Project conducting Technical Audit Study of Jamshoro, Guddu, and Muzaffargarh Thermal Power Stations in Pakistan to carry out a base line evaluation and benchmarking for determining the efficiency gains and operational improvements to be achieved.

Supervision of Operation and Maintenance of all thermal power stations besides a number of multifaceted activities relating to continuation of electric power supply to national grid.

Operation and Maintenance of Power Plants at:- Muzaffargarh having a capacity of 1370 MW- Piran Ghaib having a capacity 260 MW- Multan Cantt having a capacity of 20 MWSupervision, pre-commissioning tests, reliability run and performance guarantee of Boiler and Steam Turbines and provisional acceptance of 1 × 320 MW+2 × 210 MW of Chinese Make at Muzaffargarh.

- Worked as Chief Engineer Thermal Power Station, WAPDA, Guddu having a total capacity of 1650MW comprising a combination of Steam Units and Gas Turbine Units of different makes Czechoslovakia, USSR, China, USA and Germany.- Enhanced the Plant Availability from 60% to 95%.- Supervised and led a big workforce of 3,000 employees- Supervised construction and project activities of 600MW Gas Turbine Units of USA make and 450MW of Siemens Germany make.􀂃- Supervised and managed of gas supply from Mari Gas Fields, Sui Gas Fields and Kandhkot Gas Fields. - Cathodic Protection and liaison with gas supply companies. - Replacements of vital equipment like complete I & C, AVR and Air Blast- Circuit Breakers to SF6 Circuit Breakers, rewinding of Generators, replacement of Transformers were under taken.

Work involved drawing of a Computerized Management System at head office for carrying out maintenance of the Power Plant, which could take the place of the existing system based on the use of Check Sheet and paper work. The system was implemented at Guddu. Software used was of “TIM” of a British Company.

Project monitoring, review of contract documents, progress meetings related to ongoing Projects of Jamshoro, Steam Units and Guddu (Gas Turbine Plant).

Operation & Maintenance, major overhauling, arrangement of spares procurement of material for upkeep of Plant.

8×25MW - Gas Turbine Power Plant at Faisalabad􀂃Operation and Maintenance and related activities of staff deployment, administration and arrangement of local and foreign material.

- Responsible for training of staff particularly the new installed Unit of 1×210MW Steam Unit of Russian Make.- Staff recruitment-Compiled two Books on Turbine and Boiler and Auxiliary equipment suited to the specific need of WAPDA staff at Guddu, keeping in view their background and level of know how.􀂃- Compiled a Maintenance Schedule Manual incorporating all the check lists and schedules to be followed to keep a power-plant in good shape.

Plant operation, maintenance, attending to establishment of operation procedures, drawing of Maintenance Schedules, staff mentoring and training.Attending to frequent tripping due to unstable grid development of infrastructure, facilities for staff, induction of new staff etc, in order to cope with organization's faster growth.

Attended Special Course/ Training in Instrument and Controls of big thermal power plants in Czechoslovakia with M/S Skoda Export.

- Worked as Shift Engineer/Instrument Engineer/Deputy PlantSuperintendent. (BPS-I7) at TPS Sukkur 4×12.5=50MW Steam Unit.􀂃- Experience gained was rich and very useful. Learned the basics of ThermalPower Plant Engineering. - Activities involved in pre-commissioning tests, commissioning, operation and maintenance, training of the work force and related matters required to run a Power Plant.
