Final Year Masters Project StudentIiser Mohali May 2018 - May 2019Manauli, Sas Nagar, InDissertation Title: Room temperature tetraphenylethene (TPE) based mechanochromic luminescent columnar liquid crystals with an aggregation-induced emission effect and their application in OLEDs.Supervisor: Dr. Santanu Kumar Pal• Synthesized luminescent discotic liquid crystal (DLC) consisting of a TPE core and confirmed AIE effect using FL spectroscopy.• DLCs separated and characterized by column chromatography, thin-layer chromatography (TLC), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), UV-vis, polarising optical microscopy (POM), and small and wide-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS/WAXS).• Established DLC as a solid-state emitter in OLED devices with an EQE of 4.4% and tunable mechanochromism.• Co-authored a paper on the same and publised in Chem.
