Abdullah M. Al-Sadi is a Professor of Plant Pathology and the former Dean of College of Agricultural and Marine Sciences (2018-2024) at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU, Oman), a Professor at the University of Al Dhaid (UAE) and a Biosecurity Expert. He received his BSc from SQU in 1999, his MSc from SQU in 2002 and his PhD from the University of Queensland, Australia in 2007. He was promoted from demonstrator (1999) to Lecturer (2002) to Assistant Professor (2007) to Associate Professor (2013) and to Full Professor in 2020. Al-Sadi served as a Head of Department of Crop Sciences (2013-2018) and then as a Dean of College of Agricultural and Marine Sciences (2018-2024). He participated in/led several strategic missions and national and international committees and organized several conferences and workshops. He is Oman/SQU representative in 5 international organizations/ committees, and chaired 26 national & university committees, & a member in 34 committees. Al-Sadi contributed to the successful accreditation of nine academic programs in the college via ASIIN, Germany and led a team that developed two new MSc by thesis and 2 new Postgraduate diploma programs.Al-Sadi's research focuses on Biosecurity and on characterizing and managing fungal, viral and phytoplasma diseases affecting plants and food security in arid/semiarid regions.‎ He led more than 100 national research teams and an expert/collaborator in over 50 studies in 15 countries. He has about 500 publications, of which 330 are indexed in Scopus with a cumulative impact factor (WoS) of 910. In addition, he has supervised ‎70 PhD and MSc students and organized national and international conferences/workshops. Al-Sadi received 45 national and international awards and recognitions, including His Majesty Order of Commendation for Excellence in Research, Innovation & 4th Industrial Revolution (from His Majesty the Sultan of Oman), listed among the 2% highly cited and influential scholars in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 (Elsevier, Scopus), the most productive researcher at Sultan Qaboos University in the cumulative number of refereed journal publications affiliated to SQU over the history of SQU (among more than 3950 researchers, Scopus: 1986-2024)and Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation (Influential figure, 2022). He is an editorial board member of 3 journals, including Scientific Reports (Nature Group, IF = 4.379).
