My role requires me to manually test applications, carrying out various testing types such as Functional and Non-Functional testing. When new builds are provided for bug fixes, I perform Regression testing to ensure bugs have been fixed as well as ensuring all existing functionality is still working as expected. Key Responsibilities: o Writing test cases – ensuring maximum test coverage for each application. o Executing test cases – ensuring the application under test meets business requirements and is working as expected. o Defect Management – If a bug is found whilst carrying out testing, I am required to log the bug, inform the Developer who will decide whether or not the issue is a bug. Once bugs are fixed and new builds are provided, I ensure the bug has been fixed by performing the same scenario. I oversee the bug throughout its bug life cycle from an open to closed status. o Liaising with Developers, Project Managers and Line Manager – to provide updates on testing on a day to day basis.o Looking for new ways to improve testing – this could be providing suggestions on how existing processes can be improved or implementing new software/tools to make testing more efficient for both Corporate Purchasing and BI Reporting teams. o Testing documentation – I am keen on educating and sharing experiences with fellow colleagues regarding the importance of testing, how to test and what the best practices are. The documents will be beneficial to those who have little or no testing experience to gain a better understanding of software testing. o Creating templates – creating templates to help standardise the way scripts are written and the way bugs are logged. o Liaising with Business users – assisting the end users with any queries/issues they may face whilst performing their UAT testing. -
