Family Medicine and Occupational and Environmental Medicine

Delegate for the Residents and Recent Graduates (RRG) Section of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM). In this role, I represented the RRG section at the House of Delegates meetings and conveyed the needs and updates from the section. I was a voting member and voted on multiple resolutions discussed at the House of Delegates meetings.

- Participation in multiple clinic sites evaluating and treating patients with occupational and environmental related issues:• The Occupational and Environmental Medicine Clinic at UCSF/Mt. Zion (a weekly half-day clinic that provides an opportunity to evaluate complex patients with environmental or occupational health issues)• San Francisco Kaiser Permanente Occupational Medicine Clinic at Opera Plaza• The San Francisco Division of the California State Poison Control System• Premier Comp (a private occupational medicine practice)• Multi-site subspecialty rotation that includes dermatology, pulmonary function, neurology, complementary medicine, allergy, and ophthalmology• The Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit (PEHSU)- Participation in a weekly clinical conference- Participation in the biweekly OEM Grand Rounds, followed by either Journal Club or a Clinical Seminar in which faculty share unusual or challenging management issues- Presentation during Journal Club- Working on a research project- Participation in industrial hygiene site visits. Observe and record occupational and environmental hazards and the corresponding control measures- Participation in didactic work through the Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (COEH) “Summer Institute” which covers industrial hygiene training as well as other topics such as risk communication- Participation in Training in Clinical Research (TICR) Summer Workshop- Work at the California Department of Public Health in the Occupational Health Branch- Work at the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA)- Work at the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Regional Administrative Office- Work with occupational and environmental medicine private consultants to different companies across the Bay Area

- Training in Family Medicine- Rotating across different areas of primary and specialty healthcare- Evaluating, treating, and conducting routine physical exams for patients at the Northwest Community Health Center- Providing continuity of care for patients in a Patient Centered Medical Home designated facility- Performing ambulatory surgical procedures at the Northwest Community Health Center- Covering the Family Medicine Obstetrics service at the Ben Taub General Hospital- Covering the Family Medicine inpatient and OB/GYN services during on-calls- Attending weekly family medicine related topics didactics and a monthly Journal Club- Completed Family Medicine residency, passed the American Board of Family Medicine exam and currently board certified in Family Medicine- Several presentations, Journal Club and poster presentation- Ex-officio member of the Ambulatory Medical Services Practice Leadership Group- Journal Club Coordinator for Family Medicine Residency in academic year 2013-2014- Texas Medical Association-Residents and Fellows Section Representative, Committee on Physician Health and Wellness, Texas
