The curriculum provided a deep dive into the technical fundamentals of high-voltage power transmission infrastructure, covering topics such as:Power systems design and operationHigh-voltage substation components and protectionMedium and high-voltage switchgearTransformer types, ratings, and insulation testingTransmission line design, conductors, and maintenanceIn addition to classroom learning, I gained hands-on experience surveying routes, selecting tower placements, and overseeing the installation of conductors, insulators, and other line components. This hands-on training really brought to life the engineering considerations that go into building a reliable, large-scale power grid.
