Growing up in Southside Virginia, I always found myself in some kind of yelling match or argument with at least one of my nine siblings (nine is not a typo). These spirited debates required logical minds, rational points, quick thinking, and savvy wordplay in order to “one-up” the others argument. I strived to win. It really did not matter to me whether I was right or wrong, but only that I won. Getting my point across, and doing so in the most cunning way, was the result that I strove for. Looking back on those days, I now realize that those arguments were not as logical and rational as I once thought them to be. One thing remains true with time though, and that is that these arguments laid the foundation for my future and showed me where my passions lie. These robust and vigorous arguments made me keenly aware of just how powerful words and speech could be. Nowadays, instead of arguing something as meaningless as whether or not LeBron James is really faster than a bunny rabbit (true story), I focus my passions and dreams towards one day becoming an attorney. That fire and gusto that I had as a child is now being put to good use. Today, I am a 3rd year business administrations student at Longwood University with excellent communication and people skills. The thrill of taking on new challenges, learning, and experiencing new things are what motivate me to continuously better myself. These motivations coupled with my ambitious and determined attitude will undoubtedly propel me to the places that I will one day be.
