The mode of waveguide changes when the dimensions of the waveguide are changed, due to which the propagation loses are varied. In addition to this, if Bragg gratings are incorporated in the optical waveguides, the Bragg losses will contribute in the overall propagation losses. In this thesis, general mechanism for evaluating the propagation losses, including Bragg losses, in an optical waveguide is being developed.
