Mobility LABs is a $25 million, four-year initiative to learn what it takes to increase mobility from poverty — to provide a springboard up, rather than just a safety net — and about effective measures of short-term predictors of mobility. Mobility LABs defines mobility as including three components — economic success, agency, and belonging.

With the DOE, I managed ongoing help desk caseload, ensuring compliance and quality control in administration of the NYC Schools Survey. Additionally, I developed and maintained a new case management system consolidating previous systems into one, and supported the administration of the annual NYC Schools Survey. The survey is is designed to collect important information about each school's ability to support student success. School leaders can use feedback from the survey to reflect and improve schools and programs.

Esusu, whose aim is to empower marginalized Americans and immigrants by providing them with tools that facilitate their access to mainstream financial institutions. In preparation for the next stage of development and growth, Esusu partnered with the University of Minnesota to conduct a pre- and post- financial literacy survey that measured the impact of a financial literacy workshop held by Esusu. As part of the consulting team, I was tasked with organizing and assessing the survey results to determine feasibility, statistical significance, and next steps of the intervention, as well as creating a marketing deck and white paper for institutional investors.

As a remote aid, I was tasked with researching the efficiency of Ethiopian aid initiatives by USAID. I created market access strategy for a women-farmers in the Ethiopian Rift Valley, impacting 300 women within the region, immediately increasing access to high-tech crop maintenance tools and overall sales. I also participated in research and outreach programs in the SNNPR region, increasing use of mobile banking service of village-level savings and loan programs in Hawassa, Ethiopia by 15% in the first 90 days.

At Everytown, I worked with the State Affairs team which specializes in state legislative affairs. I worked within legislative issue areas in the South and Midwest. During my time there, I promoted state legislative bills designed to reduce and prevent gun violence and suicides through increased background checks and red flag laws.Created grassroots gun safety promotion campaigns targeting local mayor and state gubernatorial elections using state voter files.And tested and evaluated a Gun Sense gun safety questionnaire targeting politicians and vetting them on their gun safety and background check knowledge.

Tasked with supporting the programming team, I created country program briefs for the Asia Pacific regions and reported on country statuses and funding opportunities. I also supported the Internal Consulting Group work stream portfolio by creating webinars and training materials, contributing to the launch of the inaugural UNFPA Innovation Lab for programming, resulting in a 13% reduction in work and programming overlap. Additionally, I authored UNFPA Innovation Lab process documentation and moderated a 3-part innovation lab pilot involving various country desk offices.

My responsibilities included teaching English at the local secondary school, maintaining the community English learning center and contributing to the improvement of the library resource center.I have taught English as a foreign language to 158 secondary school students using customized Shikomori-English lesson plans, Improved local educators’ teaching practices and created opportunities for growth through regular co-teaching and workshops; hired and trained two English teachers to continue sustainable development goals of teaching 2000 new Comorian students per year. I have also facilitated the building of the village public library by reaching out to NGO’s willing to donate supplies and books with an estimated value of 5,700 USD and securing donations from Darien Book Aid and Books for Africa with estimated value of 1,700 USD. And wrote and secured a grant proposal of 3,500 USD to design and implement the construction of the first children’s playground made from re-purposed material in Comoros. Additionally, I formulated new grant streams between international NGO’s and women-led enterprises in Comoros adding $5,000 in capital resources to 15 small and medium sized businesses, creating a 217% increase in revenues.

I created and implemented an annual community outreach summit encompassing 200 youth, adults and local businesses in discussing workable procedures to quell localized theft, violence, and academic exclusion, developed marketing plans to recruit college level volunteers and local businesses to promote East African communities focused on positive growth; recruited, placed, retained, and supported 17 volunteers in establishment of community improvement projects, attended relevant community meetings and committees that allowed EACS to better serve needs of the community. I also expanded the program services EACS offered.

I Maintained, managed and formatted alternative format ballot application submissions from overseas citizens/military, formulated and Implement creative/efficient online voting processes to initiate and encourage higher voter participation in state general elections, as well as, aggregated, reviewed and distributed voter registration statistics.

I worked on a public outreach project to educate Seattle City Light customers about the latest changes with the public utilities. Recruited 8-12 Somali community leaders and customers to attend the meeting to discuss price augmentations and their financial impact.Organized, translated, and moderated a community focus group with Somali speaking customers along with representatives that resulted in gaining a better understanding of how utilities are used by the Somali community.Reviewed and synthesized community focus group findings for clients and then reported results to Seattle City Light.

Designed as a junior project that blossomed into a rewarding extracurricular activity.By interviewing, creating profiles and selling artists/groups latest creations we created a system of giving donations to disadvantaged youth in the local communities.Prepared summaries of articles from wide variety of sources.Through accumalation of online donations our blog supported a local church groups (St. Vincent St. Mary) fall food drive.

I contributed to the Opinions section writing about any topic we felt relevant to the student body.My favorite and most challenging experience was writing for the Features section. During my tenure there, I had the chance to interview and profile a father of a child with Autism during Autism Awareness Month. In order to promote a Bone Marrow Transplant caravan, I profiled a previous student of Seattle Pacific University who's life had been saved by Bone Marrow transplants. Another favorite of mine, was when I had the honor of interviewing daughter of the late civil rights leader Dr. Bernice King.
