Encik Abdussalam has been appointed as a Member of the Customs Appeal Tribunal by the Honourable Finance Minister of Malaysia, Mr. Lim Guan Eng starting from 7 September 2018 simultaneously with the merger of the Goods And Services Appeal Tribunal and the Customs Appeal Tribunal following to the repeal of the GST Act 2014.

Starting 1st June 2017, Abdussalam had joined the Ministry of Finance Malaysia as Member of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Appeal Tribunal. As one of the Tribunal Member, he is responsible for sitting of GST-related cases filed by the parties aggrieved by the decision of the Director General of Customs. Appeal cases filed before the Tribunal involved legal interpretation, GST technical and accounting issues.

Starting from January 2012, Abdussalam was appointed as the Head of GST Department and GST Project Manager. He is responsible for the overall direction of the department including lead the planning and implementation of projects assigned to the department, constantly monitor and report on progress of the projects to all stakeholders as well as manage project budget and project resource allocation. Starting from October 2010, Abdussalam was assigned to oversee the new department, Corporate Finance & Transaction Services. Within his tenure, he has involved in high-capacity customer development projects such as mergers and acquisitions, fund raising, corporate restructuring, business/project proposals as well as accounts, audit and tax investigation.

Abdussalam has been offered to join Salihin & Associates (SNA) as a permanent employee holding Accounts Assistant post, began on March 3, 2003. Starting there, Abdussalam been given specific responsibilities to prepare full sets of client’s accounts as well as assist the office daily affairs. Additionally, he also been given responsibility for managing matters related to the office maintenance and Information Technology.

Abdussalam started his practical training at Salihin & Associates (SNA) on October 15, 2002. During the 4 months training period, Abdussalam has been exposed to the real work situations as a business consultant. He was given the task of preparing the full sets of client's accounts, auditing, taxation as well as company secretarial matters. He also has been exposed to the office administration tasks including of customer management.
