Transmission Line Engineer
Electrical transmission line engineer, handling high voltages from 60 kV to 500 kV. Responsibilities range from designing/upgrading transmission lines to checking/reviewing of design packages by younger engineers which includes plan and profiles utilizing PLSCADD, sag and tensions & electrical clearance calculations, and structure loading calculations. The main client being served by our company is TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority).
Project Manager/Engineer
Assisted in managing a group of young engineers handling products manufacturability and design reviews for quality improvement and product specifications based on profit loss calculation and basis of engineering estimates (BOE); handling proposals where consideration is given to recommended changes of budget and schedule; diagnosing and resolving conflicting design/development requirements and coordination constraints
Senior Engineer
Senior member of transmission design and engineering group handling design of new high voltage transmission lines as well as upgrading existing ones. Responsibilities includes engineering calculation and specification, creating PLS-CADD models from existing survey data, sizing structures, designing tubular steel poles and creating their requirement drawings, updating and creating new drawings including plan and profiles, construction lists, and bill of materials. In addition, job function covers coordination with and tracking of various departments and teams such as Substation Design, Civil Engineering, Material Purchasing, and Construction. Additional functions include analysis required for selecting and recommending the proper conductor type and size for a new project to optimize cost as well as creating standard transmission specification for new HTLS conductor types such as ACCR (3M), ACCC (CTC Global), etc.
Application Engineer
Senior member of the Application Engineering team handling requests from electric utilities and engineering firms to recommend high capacity low sag ACCC conductors for upgrading the electric grids. Responsibilities includes analysis of the intended electric grids and performing engineering calculation using PLS-CADD, Sag-10 and internal software to recommend the proper high capacity low sag ACCC conductors based on utilities codes, NESC, GO 95 and other relevant engineering manuals. The analysis takes several factors into consideration such as the needed ampacity, sag limits, aeolian vibration, mechanical load capacities of existing structures, cost (material and construction), and so on. Furthermore, Job function covers coordination with and tracking of various departments and teams such as construction supervisors, production teams, the client’s engineers, and so on.
