In my last semester as an undergraduate at Iowa State, I was a teaching assistant for COM S 327: Advanced Programming Techniques. Over the semester, students in the course build a terminal-based ASCII Pokémon game in C and C++. I collaborated with the professor and other TAs to guide students' progress through the course. Practically, I held office hours to field questions or disputes and graded more than 20 programming assignments each week. Twice a semester, I helped proctor and grade exams. Assisting students with a small part of their academic journey was a fun way to sharpen my programming and communication skills!

Over the course of two internship experiences, I collaborated with a team of professionals to develop enterprise-grade cloud application features in the research and development department. I gained experience in problem solving using a variety of cutting-edge software tools such as Dart, Go, Docker, React, and Redux. I was given the same level of responsibility as a full-time engineer in order to review other people's code, build new features, cover functionality with tests, and contribute in Agile ritual team meetings. Each day I was working together to go farther in accomplishing our team's goals using tools like SCRUM development patterns facilitated by tools like Jira and GitHub to continuously integrate new releases to a production environment.
