Abebe Seyoum Yersaw is a dedicated Mental Health Professional and Public Health Specialist (Epidemiologist) with extensive experience in the field of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Gender Based Violence (GBV), and Child Protection(CP) with a remarkable career dedicated to improving mental health care and well-being in diverse settings (Development and Emergency Programs). From MHNT- MHPSS officer during a crisis to providing direct counseling, treatment, and training to communities affected by adversity and healthcare workers, he has consistently demonstrated expertise, leadership, and a passion for making a positive impact. He has headed the Psychiatry Department, coordinated MHPSS efforts for emergencies like COVID-19 management, IDPs, and returnees’ response, and provided over 20 psychosocial and (GBV) intervention training. Moreover, he is a TOT Trainer mhGAP-HIG/IG, PSS, MHPSS & SGBV related training (e.g. GPM+, Stress Management, Community-based MHPSS, and Emotional Resilience), and a Master trainer of Job readiness skills. He is also a Public health Epidemiologist, health researcher, data analyst, Public Health Emergencies, Investigation, response, and Management, Public Health program Evaluator, Excellent electronic data collector, Data Wrangler, analyzer, and reporter. Besides, he is a humanitarian worker and freelancer. Facing challenges and coming up with local solutions are his inspirations in MHPSS, GBV, CP, Public Health, and Data science. Through the different developmental and humanitarian responses in Ethiopia, He has learned a lot, which will support him in his future career, currently, he is pursuing his M.Sc. in Data Science and Information Systems (DSIS) at Osiri University, Lincoln, Nebraska, USA.
