Abel Beja is a Portuguese-American musician born and raised in Queens, New York. Since 2000, he’s been a member of Portuguese cross-over cult icons Primitive Reason with which he has toured internationally (including support slots for Fishbone and Misfits, as well as, sharing festival stages alongside the likes of Tool, Audioslave, System of a Down, Deftones and Alice In Chains) and co-written/recorded several albums and EPs. While it was the groundbreaking rock bands of the ‘70s and ‘80s that drove Beja to pick up the guitar at the age of 14, the diverse cultural backdrop that is the melting pot of NYC allowed him to explore all kinds of music and develop a unique approach to the instrument. Years later, he would find another creative outlet as a singer.A subsequent move to Europe inspired Beja to delve into other chordophones with which he’s since written and recorded with including the Guitarra Portuguesa, Viola Terceirense, Sitar, Bouzouki and Mandolin.Throughout the years, he’s contributed to various projects as a session and/or live musician while maintaining a parallel career as a guitar instructor (MA in Music Education - Guitar concentration), as well as, directing several orchestras and ensembles. Since 2019, he’s been part of the European artist collective Lusitanian Ghosts, and is currently back in the studio to work on several new projects. Most recently, Abel Beja released his debut single “For the Last Time” on the 31st of December, 2021.
