Most recently, I'm very excited to have been added to the LSE's academic skills unit whereby I can offer support to post-graduates who are non-native English speakers and facing final submission or viva - subject, of course, to their supervisors' approval.Another successful and developing venture is as an editorial consultant for first-time authors planning to follow a traditional route to publication or, alternatively, to self-publish. My preferred topic areas here include business and management, history and politics, biography/autobiography, and health and well-being.Last year I had the privilege of an Editorial Director role for 'Brains Inspiring Businesses for Leaders' - a unique collaboration between Ideas for Leaders & ION Consulting and also the first book from ION Press.I also work, in a freelance capacity, for Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS), the Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) and the National Youth Agency (NYA). Previously I have worked for the National Audit Office, Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on their inspection reports. Ten years ago, I was invited to join an editorial team working on 'The Francis Report - Report of the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust Public Inquiry'. I then worked for the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) and the Infected Blood Inquiry before joining the Windrush Inquiry team. Previously, after 5 years in publishing and two degrees (as a 'mature student'), I became a social policy researcher for government and university departments. This involved all aspects - planning methodology, gathering primary evidence, analysing data and writing the final reports. I had 20 years' research experience and several publications before returning to publishing as an editor, working with government organisations that produced a regular flow of publications as well as for publishers of academic books across the social sciences - Oxford University Press continuing to be my favourite publisher!
