Nsf Reu Undergraduate Research Assistant (Software And Behavioral Analytics)University Of Utah May 2021 - Sep 2021Salt Lake County, Utah, United StatesThis was a Summer REU with the PeDEL Lab at the School of Computing. I contributed to personal informatics and behavioral analytics research. I also helped develop a mobile app with the Dart/Flutter framework. Most of my contributions in this role had to do with user data. I designed and implemented a schema for storing and collecting future data. My favorite part of the project was addressing the issue of identifying user "sessions." In this process, I was uncovered literature about behavioral analytics and data "sessionization." I then defined and implement a solution to visualize and model patterns in user interactions with the Plan App. I also contributed to the app's UI. The app was build using the Dart/Flutter framework. Software Engineer InternNice Cxone Dec 2021 - Jul 2022Salt Lake County, Utah, United StatesThis internship added to my confidence as an emerging data science professional and introduced me to what research is like in an industry setting. It was especially interesting to interact a diverse group of innovative people and see how collaboration works across disciplines and the world. Inclusivity was integral to the team's culture, which was important to me as a queer woman in STEM. It was empowering to be given independent problems to solve. I also enjoyed attending presentations where I learned how others approached problems in the domain of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and summarization. My internship was originally 3 months from December through March. It was extended until June 2022 with potential for future collaborations later on. -
