    •In charge of various aspects of a pilot study designed to assess caloric knowledge and behavior among the Johns Hopkins’ community and determine if an intervention consisting of weekly text or email messages could increase caloric knowledge and enhance the effectiveness of calorie labeling. Helped recruit participants (n=246), helped finalize the content of pre- and post-intervention surveys, used the survey tool Zoomerang to distribute the surveys to participants, sent out the weekly text and email messages to selected participants, and coded the data from all three surveys in SPSS.•Actively recruited and screened participants for multiple research studies. •Provided research participants with nutrition counseling, took numerous body measurements, and recorded participants’ study data in SPSS and Excel for a controlled clinical trial seeking to determine whether substituting mushrooms for high density foods, like meat, would show better weight loss results than a diet based on the standardized guidelines. •Helped write a successful grant proposal for the McKesson Foundation’s Mobilizing for Health Program. This was a $250,000 proposal to work with obese individuals with type-2 diabetes using a mobile health intervention. •Created weight management educational materials for the Center’s clients, including information on healthy foods and weight management tools.•Presented educational material at group sessions conducted by the Center’s resident nutritionist. •Observed assessments between new clients and the Center’s staff (doctor, nutritionist/exercise counselor and behavioral therapist). •In charge of assembling and distributing a weekly e-newsletter to the Center’s clients. •Researched the latest news on obesity and weight management and distributed information to Center’s staff.
