I was recruited to return First American (see 2011-2016) in 2019, initially to serve as lead software engineer for one of the development teams on the Eclipse project, and later promoted to engineering manager. This project was created in order to expand and modernize the monolithic architecture underlying the API that serves as the backbone for accessing title and escrow information for all real estate transaction that are processed by First American. During my previous stint at First American I was on the consuming end of this API.As Engineering Manager I was responsible for two onshore development teams. AutoProcessor provides a technology platform that aggregates, ingests, publishes, and delivers event (e.g., concerts, sports, etc.) tickets across multiple primary and secondary markets, all in real time. Transitioned two key components of the system, document manager and event mapping manager, to microservice architecture in order to greatly improve performance and scalability.Technology stack: .NET Core v2.2, .NET Standard v4.7, SQL Server 2017, C#, MVC/Razor, AngularJS, JQuery, Javascript, Docker (for development environments), TFS, Confluence, Jira. All development teams use Agile.

Assurant Specialty Property provides lender placed insurance services for most major US lenders, including Chase, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America. Multiple legacy systems are in the process of being replaced with a single, new web application called SSP. SSP is a single page application with an Angular-based UI layer communicating with a range of backend OData and WCF/WebAPI services that implement the application logic and database access layers. Holding it all together is Neuron ESB (enterprise service bus). SSP represents Assurant’s first major Agile project, and also their first project to use DDD (domain driven design) methodology.I led a team of five software developers. Our domain within SSP dealt with automatic generation of letters that are sent to borrowers, lenders, or insurance companies when certain triggering events occur within the application or based on data that is fed into SSP from external systems. The core component of this process is a rules engine that I designed and prototyped based on Blaze Advisor (from FICO).Technology stack utilized: ASP.NET 4.6/4.7, C#, SQL Server 2014, FICO Blaze Advisor (rules engine), OData/WCF/Web API services, Neuron ESB (by Neudesic), Angular, jQuery.

Technical lead and principal designer of enterprise-level ASP.NET web application that is used to process title orders. Application was designed from the ground up to be scalable, efficient, and very easy to learn and use. It interfaces with multiple back office systems through WCF services. It has resulted in significant increases in agent productivity while also greatly reducing error rates.

Co-founded company and led design, development and successful launch of web application targeted for the K-12 education market.
