One of the critical challenges that we face globally today is food insecurity. The UN Sustainable Development Goal 2 (Zero Hunger) aims to create a world free of hunger by 2030. However, the statistics are stark: nearly 811 million people worldwide suffered from hunger in 2020, while 2.4 billion people lacked regular access to adequate food. Paradoxically, about one-third of the food produced for human consumption is wasted each year, amounting to 1.3 billion tons of food waste globally. This stark reality calls for immediate action and innovative solutions. Founded in 2023, RCL is today much more than just a sporting event; it aims to raise awareness about food security, reduce waste, and facilitate the creation of food banks for underprivileged sections of society—issues that resonate deeply with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2 of Zero Hunger. Through the intersection of sport, sustainable lifestyle, and corporate social responsibility, the first two editions of the league set the stage for a movement that encouraged simple yet impactful changes in consumer habits, focused on food security, championing initiatives that promote health, wellness, fitness, and sustainable food practices across the country. As we embark on the third season of the Restaurant Cricket League in February 2025, RCL's mission has expanded, aligning itself with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi Ji’s vision of an AatmaNirbhar Bharat and a developed nation by 2047.
