This grant followed a pilot research project on the same topic. (Received word on 28 May 2010 that the grant would be awarded subject to minor technical revisions) Current status: completed2009 - 2011: Principal Investigator of Endangered Archive Programme of the ARCADIA - British Library supported major research and documentation project "Retrieval of two major newspapers: Amrita Bazar Patrika and Jugantar Patrika". The project aimed to digitally retrieve these publications important for the history of Indian nationalism from a colonial perspective, and society and culture in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These newspapers are not available in any international collections. Current status: completed2009 - 2010: Principal Investigator of Endangered Archive Programme of the ARCADIA - British Library supported Pilot Project: "Rescuing text: retrieval and documentation of printed books and periodicals published prior to 1950 from public institutions in Eastern India." In the course of this project, 27,000 unique Bengali and Assamese language titles, not previously retrieved by any archive, were identified. The books are scheduled for digitization from their holding institutions in four phases. Current status: completed

Collaborated with Professor Gautam Bhadra, Principal Investigator, in project on documentation begun in 2000, and Supported by the India Foundation of the Arts, Bangalore, and continued by the SEPHIS, Netherlands. This project, the first of its kind and now in its last phase, has resulted in an archive of about 10,000 visual images of commercial art and about 8,000 pages of printed Bangla Advertisements.
