Dr Abhinava Barthakur is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Education Futures, University of South Australia (UniSA). He is affiliated with the Centre for Change and Complexity in Learning (C3L), an interdisciplinary research centre at UniSA focused on exploring human and artificial cognition to understand knowledge processes and their impact on society. He is also a visiting scholar at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He obtained his PhD in Learning Analytics from UniSA in 2023. Dr Barthakur’s research focuses on developing novel human-centred assessment models for measuring complex competencies, which are rooted in learning analytics and measurement theory. In doing so, he utilizes various data science and psychometrics models to provide diagnostic information about student learning within higher education and in the context of professional learning. Dr Barthakur leads projects examining students’ development of broader competencies and learning outcomes and believes in the holistic representation of students’ success. He is actively seeking to collaborate with researchers interested in learning analytics and education technology, including master's and doctoral candidates, to work with him.
