Indian Railways has a historical legacy, is a vital force in our economic development of the nation. It is the chief mode of transport for passengers and goods. It brings people together from the farthest corner of the country preserving unity and integrity by linking together all the regions. The whole idea of the internship was to gain practical knowledge about locomotive which is gained through interaction with various Personnel by observing their work, listening to their lectures on their work. The main information about the locos related to lube oil system is enclosed in this report. This project consists of study of optimization of loco movement in loco shed by the help of PERT and CPM theory, planning, problem analyzing, sequence operations, and conditioning. At the end of the project we will be able to reduce the movement in shed and thereby reduce time and fuel consumption, find an optimum light schedule plan to maximize the efficiency of light repair works in the shed and to effectively utilize the bays and roads by coordinating all the sections.
