Hello viewers!! I am Abhishek Raman Mathur, an MRSD student at the Robotics Institute, School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU).The way R2D2 is to Luke Skywalker, Robots are to me! I'm extremely fascinated with the field and its vast applications in all industries and domains. Particularly I am intrigued by Computer Vision, SLAM and Perception for mapping complex environments while incorporating smart path planning techniques. Along with that I also am fascinated with artificial intelligence for designing the brain of robots, using Reinforcement Learning and Probabilistic Decision Making, facilitating efficient cognition. My experience has been versatile with research internships across various labs at IIT Institutes, along with SRI International that works in space robotics. I have extensive experience with Robot arms for manipulation combined with SLAM and Computer Vision, in medical applications such as Robot Assisted Minimally Invasive Surgery and Robotic Ultrasound. I have also published and presented a research paper at the IEEE CASE 2023 Conference.I plan on expanding my horizons within the field with Autonomous Driving, Aerial Robots, Soft Robots and Humanoids. My ever evolving penchant for seizing any opportunity and making the most out of it, will allow me to do so. My eventual goal is to work at a leading tech company in the mentioned fields and also create an Entrepreneurial Venture eventually that is focused on solving niche robotic problems in the future.Feel free to reach out to me anytime! Happy to connect!

Undergraduate Student Researcher - Arms LabIit Bombay May 2023 - Jan 2024Mumbai, Maharashtra, IndiaGuide: Prof Dr. Leena Vachhani. Worked at the Autonomous Robotics and Multi Robot Systems Laboratory on a project to create an autonomous framework for minimally invasive surgery using the Davinci Endowrist system. Using joint space analysis with inverse kinematics, I modelled the time based orientation with a probabilistic markov chain and then with a Deep Q net, created an RL method which finds the best trajectory for the joints in optmized control input format. The project involved Robotic Ultrasound with a collaborative 7 DOF robot arm having an end effector probe for scanning. My goal was to develop a method that can effectively pinpoint the best probe orientation in the search space. So I developed a method using search scanning with Bayesian Optimization and Probabilistic Maps along with localization and mapping, by the Force sensor data at the end effector to determine the pose of the probe, and my method achieved 97 percent accuracy. Published and presented a conference research paper at IEEE CASE 2023 on the same along with my guide. Show less -
