Teacher turned Entrepreneur, Youtuber, Podcaster and Writer. I’m #TheLearningGuy on LinkedIn. Projects I am building Learning Lab Media, Bookbond and Podshare. I create and curate videos on a YouTube channel called Teacher Tuber; write an education newsletter called Education Coffee; and host an audio and video podcast called Learning Stories. Work ExperienceBetween 2013 to 2023, I worked as a Teaching, Research and Communication Professional in the education, academic and not for profit space. With a focus on learning and growth, I gained ten years of experience working as a Teacher, Communications Specialist, Business Associate, Social Media Manager and Research Associate at the following institutions: American School of Bombay, Consilience Education, Western University, and Lynn-Rose Schools. With the skills and knowledge I gained I learned how to help brands tell their stories and help students and employees become better learners. Training and EducationI have a Bachelor's Degree of Arts in English Literature, Political Science and Psychology from Mumbai University, a Master's Degree of Arts in Education Management from Indira Gandhi National Open University and a Bachelor of Education Degree in Teaching High School English and Social Sciences from Western University. In 2019, I cleared the NET and SET post graduate exams that allows me to teach Education at universities and colleges across India. In 2021, I got my teaching certification that allows me to teach English and Social Sciences to high school students. BackgroundIn 2013, I took a year off from university to undertake a research and youth project titled, ‘Education from a Student Perspective in India’. The objective was to visit and study innovative learning spaces and institutions across the country to collect data and stories on progressive learning methodologies. I was fortunate to interact with 20,000 students in 120 schools in 15 cities during the year. In 2014, I presented these findings to 800 teachers at the National Teachers Parliament in Nagpur. FounderBookbond Aug 2024 - PresentMumbai, Maharashtra, IndiaProblem 1 - India has an estimated 160000 public libraries but there is a lack of transparent data on books and staffing for these institutions. Problem 2 - India has an estimated 140000000 people and a certain percentage of this large population would have access to private home libraries. We have no data on private home libraries. Most Indians today buy books to read rather than borrow books to read. This limits access to ideas and knowledge based on access to funds. We can tap into this private home library network around the country to give children and adults an opportunity to access a wide variety of books in their neighbourhood from trusted sources. Solution - I started Bookbond as an online community that aims to collate data and spread awareness about the Public Library Infrastructure in India and aims to create a new online network of Private Home Libraries in cities and villages that can give people in India access to a wide variety of books in their immediate neighbourhoods.
