Foundation Coach is qualification awarded by Mountain Training (the National Governing Body for hill walking, climbing, and mountaineering). Having received this award I have proven myself to be an effective coach of fundamental skills of climbing through stimulating delivery. I am able to create learning outcomes as part of a longer term progression, course or scheme.

With achieving my Climbing Wall Development Award I am qualified to operate on indoor and outdoor artificial bouldering venues and climbing walls. Able to support an indoor climber's progression while fostering their independence I can teach indoor lead climbing skills. With the Climbing Wall Development Award I have proven myself to be an experienced instructor and climber that is able to supervise and lead engaging sessions for groups or individuals looking to progress in their climbing as well as new Instructors looking to move their careers forward.

In addition to setting bouldering routes I am now trained to devise routes out of manufactured holds and empty walls of considerable height necessitating safe rope access skills. The test of strategy, problem solving, skill, creativity and physical ability remains as in setting boulders with slightly differing parameters demanding greater vigilance regarding the logistics off setting up access ropes as well as considering safe leading (a type of rope climbing much more akin to outdoor climbing as the rope is attached to the climber and belayer on the ground and is attached by the climber as they climb) practices in addition to top-rope practices. Rope setters must also be qualified to assist and perform rescues within the system of suspension.

Bouldering is a type of rock climbing that is performed on small rock formations or artificial rock walls, known as 'Boulders', without the use of ropes or harnesses. Setting is an integral activity within the indoor rock climbing community wherein Setters devise routes out of manufactured holds and empty walls. It is a test of strategy, problem solving, skill, creativity and physical ability. A setter requires in house training or qualifications awarded by the Route Setting Association. This guarantees that I am an advanced boulderer and as such am able to create suitable boulder routes (known as problems) for various standards of climber.

Having achieved the Climbing Wall Award I am qualified to instruct climbing sessions on artificial climbing walls and boulders. I am expected to consistently produce engaging sessions for groups or individuals of any age and ability while complying with safety regulations of the venue and the Mountain Training scheme (the awarding body for artificial climbing structors and outdoor adventure specialists). Good climbing instructors must be personable and creative, adapting easily to changing resources as you work with and around others in the field.

Overseeing the retail department, serving customers and providing them with bespoke advice and recommendations on purchasing the correct climbing equipment. Other duties included creating promotions and visual merchandising, handling payments, stock checks and reordering.The centre also has a café and some of my time would be spent overseeing the catering for individual clients and bespoke customer parties held.

Finding and formulating new ways to engage with our varied audiences on different social platforms. Training colleagues on “best practice” of social media use and how to maximise its impact.

As a site-specific Instructor I have gone through a rigorous process that taught and then tested my consistency in safety and enthusiasm standards when running auto belay activities in an indoor climbing facility.

As part of a team of ten, my main focus was finishing projects, which consisted of simultaneously building fully responsive multi-page websites for multiple clients based on a static design brief. I utilised HTML, CSS, PHP, and WordPress to create engaging user experience (UX) websites within given deadlines.Collaborating with a content writer, SEO manager, and marketing team, I gained firsthand experience in resolving marketing objectives through website design. This involved participating in client onboarding meetings to understand user demographics and journeys, addressing any user experience challenges, and expanding the client's target audience.In addition to project completion the nature of the agile working environment meant responding to clients' needs and their service levels. This included website maintenance, updating information or adding new pages, creating email signatures, and providing hosting and email support for clients utilising our server.To enhance our development processes, I collaborated with another team member to improve our base theme by integrating new tools such as FontAwesome and implementing updated SEO formatting practices. I also took the initiative to write procedures and training guides, saving time for myself and new team members joining the company.

Producing and presenting a podcast, consistently delivering high-quality commentary on literary events, literature and the arts. Was put on hiatus due to scheduling difficulties.

Assisting with the general running of the centre: on the reception desk, café, kitchen and the store. Assisting with data entry for Youth Competitions and front-of-house organisation

I designed the cover for Splendid Fred's first album release. Working with the director of the record label they commissioned a piece of art produced by me that I edited to match the aesthetic of the design they were looking for.

During my Master's year I produced and co-hosted a weekly radio show. Additionally contributing to organising and running big events to raise money for local charities for which we won Society Event of the Year. Working on live radio necessitates exceptional professionalism with an effortless ease and personality that invites the listener to continue coming back all whilst ensuring the audio quality remained high through my mixing.
