Abid Hossain is a Student at Hunter College at lululemon. Colleagues describe them as "Abid was a student at Khalil Gibran International Academy High School where I had the pleasure of being his Computer Science teacher. I feel in my heart, he would be a tremendous asset in any career he chooses to undertake as he exemplifies a tenacity for excellence in all that he does. The most important attribute I feel Abid exemplifies, is his unwavering focus and determination to learn new things, especially as it relates to technology. He is very inquisitive and constantly seeking out new approaches to tackling a problem. He is resilient in the face of setbacks. His calm demeanor and extreme patience are all qualities I most value in him. He seems very passionate about engaging in any activity that requires problem solving During the summer of 2022, he was part of a select group of students who volunteered for a computer programming class I co-taught at Google. His commitment during the hot summer months to part-take in such a program is a prime example of his dedication to excel. Whether Abid is working on assignments tackling programming bugs, he can always be relied upon to explain the specifics of his findings during classroom share-out. The interest that he expresses in technology is one that I know will transcend to any challenge he takes on. His curiosity has helped to spark ideas among his peers in his classes by going above and beyond the task given. Abid is wonderful at collaborating. He has a pleasant disposition which lends itself to working well with others. He is patient and is open to any kind of feedback. He strives to solve problems as a group and as independently as possible when required. As his teacher, I have to say he is one of the few people I can team up with anyone and feel comfortable knowing he will not only work well with them, but also inspire the others in his group to put their best feet forward. Abid’s unique talent is his patience and insightfulness as well as his dedication to completing a task given to the best of his ability and to motivate others to do the same.
