I am a seasoned plant breeder with dexterity in conventional and molecular approaches geared towards genetic enhancement of crops. I have spent most part of my career with International Research Organizations and Multinational Seed Company, where I contributed to the development and improvement of crops for multiple stress tolerance and elevated nutritive value, while serving in various capacities including Research Supervisor, Research Associate, Research Administrative Manager, Plant Breeder, International Trials Manager and presently as a PDF: Plant Breeder. In my current role, I am leading the introduction, testing and adaptation of climate resilient and nutritious alternative crops for dietary enrichment and diversification of cropping systems in marginal environments characterized by high temperature, salinity and water scarcity. Prior to this role, I have led and/or participated in series of research activities including conventional recurrent selection, genomic selection, marker-assisted recurrent selection, genetic diversity, characterization of germplasm for stress tolerance, genetic analysis, genetic gains study, estimation of variances, performance evaluation, stability analysis and investigation of inter-trait relationships, among others. I have also been involved in the establishment of demonstration plots, training of farmers on good agronomic practices as well as promotion of outstanding crop varieties for release, commercialization, and subsequent adoption by the farmers in SSA.My dexterity as a committed research scientist has been demonstrated through contributions to knowledge via research work, scientific publications and presentations in national and international conferences.
