Catologuing Officer (Secondment)
Researching an archival collection of photographic prints depicting healthcare provision and procedures in Britain 1938-1943, as part of a project funded by the Wellcome Trust. Using the internet, newspaper archives, databases and academic publications, and determining geographic locations using historical mapsFollowing ISAD(G) protocol to ensure catalogue entries contain appropriate information and that finding aids are effective. Entering catalogued information into an in-house database to enable search and retrieval by staff, and ensuring catalogued records are available online to the public.Working with staff in other departments to facilitate sharing of information, including contributing to the creation of an education pack, promotional and marketing materials, and customer enquiries. Conducting oral history interviews, creating interview summaries, editing audio and creating a video using archival photographs and interview clips.Recognising and noting prints in need of conservation, and referring to a conservator to confirm appropriate storage arrangements. Following archival protocol in the handling of archive material, and ensuring that archive material is returned to a climate controlled archive store promptly.
