As a waitress, i possess many skills, they include successfully working independently in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that our guests are happy and they have a great experience in our restaurant. It also involves dealing with difficult guests in an appropriate way and handling difficult situations to the best of my ability. Furthermore, i am able to use a software to book our guests into the restaurant as well as answering the phone and any quieries people may have.

My role at Tesco as a Personal Shopper involves picking items for customers, particularly those who are vulnerable (during the pandemic) as well as the elderly. This role involves team work as we must reach a certain number of picks by a certain deadline, as well as give other members of staff, in particular, new starters, help and advice. Sometimes this role can be challenging as certain items aren’t available and so I must appropriately substitute them for something similar and the same price. Perseverance is key as sometimes the shop can become busy and walking around picking items, with a large trolly can be tricky. Furthermore, in order to ensure we’re completing our picks efficiently, and to our best standard, we have a daily pick rate which we must hit.One of the main reasons i applied for this role during the pandemic was to give back to my local community and to help those who were vulnerable.

Project Co-Ordinator for a community led project - “Females of the future”. I worked alongside two employment coaches, to create a unique 10 week programme for unemployed females in the Knowsley area. This programme involved sessions on helping the females to become more employable - through organising qualifications for them to add to their CV’s, to recognising the skills they already had from previous roles. As well as sessions on mindfulness and wellbeing, to remind the females of the important balance of work / life. We successfully managed to help 3 females back into employment which was a fantastic achievement on both parts. Some of our other females went onto volunteer at local charities, and some went onto further training. The project was a great success overall!

1-1 personal assistant for a young autistic/adhd male. The role included taking him to his activities outside of school. I supported him with what he needed help with, or what he wanted to do at that time. I had to draw upon my skills of negotiating, calm talking and listening, as well as the ability to distract him, yet still remain aware of our surroundings.

My skills within this role include improved confidence, dealing with challenging customers in an appropriate way and integrating with my crew members. Furthermore, I have learnt to handle large amounts of cash and how to work effectively in a fast pace environment. Having a part time job gives me independence as I earn my own money and therefore I can save for important things such as paying for my phone bill and nice trips out with my friends.
