As a graduate assistant in alumni engagement, I dedicated my time to helping the Advancement team in a variety of ways. Each week I sent out the acknowledgment letters to our donors and ensured they were receiving the proper documentation for their donation. I also ran the Lewis Alumni social media and created a plan each month for content that would engage our Alumni and kept them up to date with Lewis events. I was always willing to help out wherever I was needed and took on new and challenging tasks in the office.

I was given the amazing opportunity to spend the summer in Washington D.C. as an intern for Bill Foster, Representative for the 11th District of Illinois. Working in constituent services, I had to manage the emails, phone calls, and visits from constituents in the district. I also utilized my writing and research skills to create policy memos and press releases for the Representative. One of my favorite memories was the chance to write a speech for Representative Foster which he presented to the House of Representatives floor.

While working as an intern at Argonne National Laboratory I assisted with ensuring that scientists had the necessary equipment and supplies to complete their research and projects. Each week, I sent out 15+ purchase orders and repair orders to vendors. To accomplish this I had to focus on making strong relationships with customers and vendors. I also had to work with urgency and diligence to ensure that deliveries were made in a timely manner and scientists with what they received. Through this position I gained an understanding of the complexities of the supply chain industry.
