Facilitate lecture and exam review sessions for members of Women in Science and Engineering enrolled in Organic Chemistry I. Create a positive learning environment, practice material and activities, and community-building exercises. Responsible for preparation work, sessions, lecture attendance, and keeping open communication on session times/locations and preferred session content. Attend monthly staff meetings, peer observations, and WiSE informational sessions.

Assisting in research involving genetic manipulation of zebrafish subjects. I am involved in designing and testing various components of the CRISPR-Cas9 system with the intention of knocking out or modifying various zebrafish genes. In the process of curating and verifying these edits, my small team and I perform PCR, gel electrophoresis, microscopy monitoring, and imaging of the subjects.

In collaboration with other committees, I helped lead the MD/DO committee in organizing the Iowa State University annual Pre-Health Conference. This conference serves as a way to connect pre-health students both within Iowa State and outside of our school with health care professionals, health-related graduate schools (medical schools, dental schools, PA schools, etc.), and professional development workshops during a one-day interactive conference. As a leader of the MD/DO committee my team and I were responsible for reaching out to both medical professionals and medical schools in hope that they would attend our event. During the event itself, I moderated Q&A pannels with the professionals and medical schools we reached out to.

I co-lead club meetings with the help of the president. I have responsibilities involving reaching out to different people, clubs, and professionals we are interested in being featured in our meetings, facilitating communication with members of the club, and collaborating with other club executives on meeting plans, club involvement and outreach.

I conducted clinical research under the direction of Dr. Lauren Cornell in the Jacoby Breast Center on the Mayo Clinic Florida campus. The study I worked on involved intensive retrospective chart reviews of breast cancer patients treated at Mayo Clinic Florida, contacting patients to gauge their interest in participating in the study, and continued communication during the data collection process. I was able to work with many professionals within Mayo's clinical research efforts, including both physicians and clinical research coordinators alike. I was also able to condense my efforts into a presentation which I shared at a symposium at the end of the summer.

Greeted and helped customers as they came into the store. I met requests using my knowledge about the store’s services and products and was responsible for manning the cash register, restocking shelves throughout the workday, and opening/closing the store. I aided in store cleanliness and layout by setting up floor sets.
