Aspiring Starfleet scientist! For now though, I'm enjoying my time as a Planetary Sciences student.As a dedicated and passionate student with interests spanning a wide variety of disciplines, I am involved with many different organizations. From music and the arts with Purdue Bands and Orchestras to mentorship with WISP, I make sure to keep myself well-rounded. In what little free-time I have left, I enjoy baking, playing video games, and reading (my current favorites are Gideon the Ninth and The Book Thief).I am still working on developing my hard skills, such as coding and professional communication, through my upcoming coursework, but I have a number of soft skills that I have developed over time. Taking many AP and Honors classes in high school and then coming to college has taught me about the importance of discipline and time management, giving me the space I needed to grow those skills. My desire to succeed in everything I do has given me a strong sense of commitment and work ethic. Time spent in the kitchen has helped me learn how to work with a fire under me (almost literally), and my interpersonal skills are strong thanks to years as a Girl Scout and working in customer service.Ten years from now, I hope have made a career out of exoplanet and habitability research. However, I can also see myself using my communication skills to make science more accessible to the public. While Star Trek may not be the reality (yet), I still hope to seek out strange new worlds.
