I am a compassionate designer with three years of urban design experience with SITELAB urban studio and a Bachelor of Architecture. My work and passions are driven by the intersections of the built environment and policy and the socio-cultural locations in which they are situated within. Urban design and architecture has great potential to productively participate in social change through the creation of inclusivity in the built environment. I hope to work towards a practice of Architecture and urban thinking that strives to be advocates for more empathetic cities through thoughtful design. I think design can be more than just a tool but a participant in dignity and humanity. My work in partnership with my fellow classmate, Michael Kowalsky, that took us to Best of Show at Cal Poly aimed to suggest a possible future in which architecture could grow to become a network of support that could uplift people without a platform to be able to more equitably participant in their cities. My thesis is again working with complicated social systems of oppression in Beirut where the explosion this past summer exposed some long shrouded inequity. The project is working through a potential radical reconstruction of the way we fundamentally approach architecture through a more feminine prioritized lens. Moving forward I hope to be able to combine my passion for architecture, urban design, and advocacy. This may entail further education as well as tangential career paths in non profit work or regulatory organizations that work to establish guidelines for more progressive design, both socially and environmentally.
