I advocate and provide services for students of the Carroll County School District to support academic, behavioral, and social success. As a Student Advocate, I manage a caseload of approximately 50 students and provide interventions for issues pertaining to truancy, academics, mental health, homelessness, grief, and bullying. I provide food, clothes, and hygiene items to the students in the form of a Care Closet available housed in my schools. I conduct check-ins, assist in faculty and family conferences, and perform home visits to determine appropriate services, referrals, and resources for middle and high school students. I've created and maintained partnerships with community agencies for the purpose of providing resources to students.

As a School Social Work Intern, I advocated for and provided services for district students to support successful academic, social, and cultural interactions. This included conducting assessments, home visits, and individual/family interventions for elementary and high school students to determine appropriate care, referrals, and resources. I executed crisis intervention strategies for issues pertaining to truancy, mental health, homelessness, grief, bullying, and domestic abuse. In addition, I co-facilitated three support groups on topics including healthy relationships, social skills, conflict resolution, emotional regulation, and financial literacy. In the development of the support groups, I created content and introduced activities that were age-appropriate and individualized for the group type: elementary-aged, high school-aged, and a teen parent support group. I have contributed to the supportive, caring culture of the school in many ways, including the promotion of access to mental health services and economic aid. In addition, I designed and implemented a social skills group for 5th grade students that promoted healthy communication strategies and led to a decrease in bullying.
