About Abigail Holstein

Abigail Holstein is a Associate Director of Development at Association for Autism and Neurodiversity. She possess expertise in content development, marketing, fundraising, editing, writing and 14 more skills. Colleagues describe her as "I worked with Abby during her time at Change for Kids. As a member of the Board of Directors, I volunteered a number of hours to work with the staff in the office, many of which were with Abby and her work in the Marketing Department. During our time together, I have been impressed with Abby's ability to engage members of our organization with Communications projects, leveraging their passion and skills to enhance the organization's marketing and PR capacity. She is able to balance the demands of a variety of stakeholders with grace and respect, and is excellent at identifying teammates' strengths and strategically applying them to the projects she's leading. She's also a pleasure to work with--her optimism and humor, her thoughtfulness and clear-eyed perspective, her preparedness and organization mean her projects run smoothly and efficiently. She is a great team player--making it fun to work in the office. I admire her abilities as a writer, editor and content creator. She is a gifted storyteller, able to communicate well with a range of audience groups. " and "Abby was my colleague at Ecco, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, and it was my privilege to work alongside her and learn from her in a highly demanding and challenging professional environment. A profoundly skilled communicator and adept multi-tasker, Abby was unusually gifted at managing high stakes relationships with literary agents and authors, as well as the multiple in-house teams with whom editors liaise (marketing, publicity, sales, finance, design, etc.). Author care is at the core of the publishing business, and I've never known another editor with more devoted authors. Why? Abby is not only a talented editor who is able to identify, shape, and realize an author's vision and bring to life the best possible version of a book (from literary novels to commercial memoirs) both at the macro and micro levels, she is also able to clearly articulate how to get to that place with authors and agents, demonstrating the needs of the book in precise, detailed, caring, and persuasive language, meeting an author wherever he or she may be at, removing ego from the process, and creating a true sense of collaboration. Editors also need to be skilled "salespeople" in house, pitching their books and generating enthusiasm within the company, to ensure their projects reach the audience they deserve. Abby was genius at creating this internal buy-in. Her enthusiasm, humor, intelligence, and passion were infectious. From identifying business opportunities (i.e. early trends in the marketplace) to generating selling internal copy, from delivering energizing presentations to identifying potential audiences, from finding ways to cut production costs to strategizing events, Abby delivered on all fronts. Beyond that, she was a remarkably generous colleague, always willing to brainstorm solutions, read and offer insight on copy (even editors need editors), help refine one's pitches and presentations, and just generally share the fruits of her experience and insight."

Listed skills include Content Development, Marketing, Fundraising, Editing, and 15 others.
